Spider Magnets

Spider MagnetsThese cool magnets from Wrapables come in three different animal choices – monkey, pig or cow.  Much more fun than a magnet from your local pizza place or chiropractor, these are also functional – there’s a magnet under the hands and feet, for four times the magnetic power!

Herbal Desk Accessories

herbal desk setAccording to Uncommon Goods, the “soothing blend of lavender, rosemary, chamomile and peppermint is mixed with premium flax seeds to help support and revive your tired body during hours spent in front of the computer.”  They actually look nice, too.

Swiss Business Tool

swiss business toolI love the Swiss Business Tool as a gift for a recent college graduate or someone with a recent promotion.  It’s built to the same standards as the famous Swiss Army Knives, but with a modern twist.  It’s functions include acting as a stapler, hole punch, staple remover, scissors, optical gauge, nail file and nail cleaner.  A very high-quality and unique gift.

Burnt by Dad BBQ Platter

bbq platterWe’re getting close to BBQ season, so you’re likely going to see some grilling gifts popping up here on GiftZen.  One fun gift we like is the Burnt by Dad BBQ Platter from Uncommon Goods.  If if Dad is a flawless in front of the charcoal, I’m sure he’ll still appreciate the humor behind this gift, right?

Tooth Fairy Pillow

Tooth Fairy PillowBoth cute and a little frightening, the Tooth Fairly Pillow will shepard your child’s tooth into the netherworld – in exchange for a few coins.  This is a little silly, but how cool would it have been to have one of these as a kid?

Chair Game

Chair GameKind of like inverse Jenga, the goal of this game is to keep stacking chairs onto the pile until someone knocks it over.  Recommended for ages five and up, this looks like a lot of fun!

Tapeless Tape Measure

tapeless tape measureIf you’ve ever tried to measure any distance longer than a few feet with a standard metal tape measure, you know how frustrating that can be.  If you’re lucky, the tape just sags a bit and you have a slightly incorrect measurement.  More likely, you try to measure too far and the tension causes the tape to lose it’s ability to stay rigid.  So then you try measuring a few feet, making a mark, then a few feet and make a mark, and so on.  Then later you wonder why your new Ikea furniture doesn’t fit the way you imagined.   Trust me, I’ve been there.  That is exactly the sort of problem you won’t have with the Tapeless Tape Measure from Gaiam.  This little gadget will accurately measure up to 50′, with no fuss.  It will even calculate the area and volume of spaces with the push of a button.  I wish I had one of these a few months ago!

Herbal Tea Sampler

herbal tea samplerThere are two things to love about this gift.  First of all, you get six different tea choices: berry blast, blood orange, foxtrot, rooibos jasmine, spearmint and strawberry patch.  Secondly, the tea sampler with six tins and a decorative box is only $10.  So the recipient gets several choices, gets to enjoy the gift for weeks, and you’re only out a little!  Perfect!

Cuboro

CuboroCuboro is one of those rare toys that kids love to play, and it teaches them about great things like cognitive reasoning, spatial relationships, and basic physics.  You basically build a track for a marble to roll down – and it’s fun!  Sets are a little on the expensive side ($110-$150), but they are worth it.  They are available online from a few select retailers.

Steel Garlic Crusher

Steel Garlic CrusherThis stainless steel garlic crush does two things very well.  First, it crushes garlic like nobody’s business.   Place clove inside the cylinder, give it roll, and out pops the peeled garlic clove – it’s that easy.  Then, when you’re done, wash your hands with the steel cylinder and it removes all traces of garlic scent from your hands!   It really is a great gift for all cooks and garlic lovers.
