In many different cultures it is traditional to plant a ginkgo tree to celebrate the birth of a child.  In ten years the tree will be 20 feet tall, and it will live 1000 years or more.  Additionally, ginkgo leave are used for memory enhancement – but I won’t even try to to tell you how to make tea from tree leaves.  This does make a nice, thoughtful baby shower gift, though.
