These are kind of fun. You can add a little whimsy to your boring old backyard trees. But if I wasn’t expecting it, these would scare the beejeezus out of me. Especially if you rig up a sound system to make me think they were talking… OK, maybe it’s just me.

There’s been quite a few RC flying toys lately, but this one might just take the cake. It flaps it’s wings just like a real dragonfly, and even has status lights built in to it’s eyes. This must be great fun flying at night! It also come with setting for beginners and more advanced pilots, which is also a new (and great) idea.
Here’s a great gift for little kids - the Snopals. When making a snowman is just too much work - or this isn’t enough snow - just make a smallish snowball, and decorate it using the Snopals kit. And you’re left with a super-cute penguin family!

The new Podz Wireless Speakers from Brookstone are far superior to other wireless speakers, and are built for use specifically with iPods. Fully rechargeable, they work up to 150 feet away from the transmitter and sound great. They make a perfect gift for the techie on your gift list!

A nice, low-tech piece of home decor, the Sun Jar charges during the day, then emits low-intensity light in the evening and night. It also works great for evenings in the backyard, camping, or anywhere you want a little light but you don’t want to have to deal with cords. Save some pennies on electricity, and give one of your rooms some nice pleasant mood lighting - it’s a win-win.
When I was young, the coolest kids had battery powered cars that would run for about an hour, and they could go around in circles in their driveway. Nowadays, kids can get the Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane. This thing goes two speeds forward, reverse, has all-wheel drive for driving over obstacles, direction lights, an in-dash navigation system, and FM radio, cupholders, and more. I’m fairly certain this car is better than mine. Heck, retailing for $399, it probably costs about the same, too.
Summer soccer season is in full swing, and this is a fun gift for the little soccer fans on your list. The kit comes with a ball, paint, brushes, and complete instructions for personalizing the ball with team colors - or whatever! Just let it dry and go play!

For the barbequer that has everything, there’s always the BBQ pizza stone from Williams-Sonoma. Gives pizza that oven-style crispiness, except it’s cooked on a gas grill. Fun!

A fun addition to backyard decor, these steel snail sculptures and small enough to not be obnoxious, but nice enough to place where they’ll be noticed. Handcrafted, each piece is an individual work of art.
